Template:Character infobox Vlad II, also known as Vlad Dracul or Vlad the Dragon, was Voivode of Wallachia in the 15th century and is best known for being Vlad III Dracula's father. He is first mentioned in Blood Rites.
Biography
An illegitimate son of Mircea I of Wallachia, he spent his youth out of Wallachia, and at the court of Sigismund of Luxembourg, who made him a member of the Order of the Dragon, requiring him to fight the enemies of Christianity, in particular the Ottoman empire, and recognized him as the lawful voivode of Wallachia.
After seizing actual control of Wallachia, Vlad II switched a number of times his allegiance from European powers to the Ottoman Empire and back, according to their relative strength and influence in the area, until he was definitely routed from Wallachia by his erstwile ally John Hunyady and killed.

In Blood Rites, Vlad Drakul is referenced by Ebenezar McCoy as a half mortal. Harry Dresden confuses him for his son, Vlad the Impaler, but McCoy asserts that Dracula was a pale comparison, and only became a Black Court vampire as a form of teenage rebellion against his father, Vlad Drakul. McCoy says Drakul himself is formidable, dangerous, and cruel, often referring to him as a "creature". He also states that Jared Kincaid was the servant of Drakul, known in that capaity as the "Hound of Hell," or simply, "the Hellhound".[1]
White Night
