  • I created it now, as a redirect to Summer Court mirroring Winterfae redirecting to Winter Court.

Feel free to expand them, if you so wish. The set of Faerie pages is seriously limping anyway, and I put off working on them after I could go through the whole series, a hassle on its own right...

    • Expand Summerfae as its own page or expand the Summer Court page to include such Faeries? I can do either once I have more time, internet down here is atrocious.

        Loading editor
    • Whichever. The whole fae group of pages should be rewritten with an eye of integrating it a lot better. Same applies to magic.

That's what happens when a single individual edits some and stop only to replaced by another single individual.

  • Just to let you know that I reverted the reflist template to what it was on 12/06/16; I find that having the set "uncollapsed" makes it easier to find possible duplicates. My apologies for wasting your effort.

    • It is possible to use personal CSS to collapse it for normal users while you personally would always see it uncollapsed, if you would be interested in such a thing. I’m at the beach though so it’d be a while before I could set it up.

    • I thought you may be, well, perhaps not at the beach, but certainly on vacation.

Take your time, I don't think it will hurt anyone if the old form is active for a few more days. As usual, your setting up such things is always appreciated. :)

  • this seems to be working; apparently I can't reply on my wall. Which is stupid, btw.

Congratulations for vanguard; I always thought you were too smart for diepio. :)

Thanks for all the work; icons are a good idea, and might be useful in place of footnotes. Links to wikipedia shouldn't go with references, but too many of them are cumbersome - we can use icons for the most general references, and keep only the more precise links for the most particular topics requiring expansion on wikipedia. But, why "only legal modifications"?

Thanks for the footnote reference - I don't think I'll access df wiki with a mobile any time soon, so I'll defer to you.

The war infobox is an excellent start; somewhat heavy-duty, though. This and the reference problem might mean we'll have to transfer a number of things in the text, so it lightens up some. And it's startling to have the references start with 39!

    • You can’t? Can you screenshot what happens when you try? Could be worth reporting.
      Thanks :D
Glad you like them & will find them useful. As for the legal modifications bit; Fandom Staff have banned all CSS/JS modifications to the header area, with those icons, & the ability to add buttons to the edit dropdown, being the only two modifications that are allowed period. I could get my Bureaucrat rights stripped if I repeatedly modified it in any other way.
I had Fishy Tank, guy who invited me to Vanguard & soon to be my boss, looking into the problem & it was the only solution we found (he’s the mobile expert).
Lol I can understand that. The only reason it’s so huge is because of the amount of raw data The War has. The Oblivion war would be much less massive, & we can also use the war Template for Battles; such as the Battle of the Deeps. It’s meant to be multi-purpose.

  • Would you say that the Carpenter family, the Alphas, Bob and the vampire Felicia are members of the Chicago Alliance?

I would also appreciate any input about how to categorize Ordo Lebes, Paranet, Chicago Alliance, and Brighter Future Society.

    Thanks!

    • Well, I merged Ordo Lebes with Paranet and Chicago Alliance with Brighter Future Society, removing bob, Childs, the Carpenter family as a whole and the Alphas as a whole from the category. We can correct the rest at a later time.

  • What do you think, should it be "the Archive" or simply "Archive"? I'm all in favor of the first, since it appears more a description, rather than a name or a title, but then...

      1. It had not. The symmetrical battering has yes, but not that it was done for a purpose. It wouldn’t be uncharacteristic of Butcher.
      2. I suppose Butcher might have such a thing up his sleeve in regards to a mantle for her, it would certainly tie in with a lot of Vadderung’s hinting. Maybe she’ll pull off a darkhollow, but a darkhollow in the middle of a fomor headquarters so that she both eliminates them in the same way Harry did the Reds while also ascending. There’s loads of possibilities, but it has happened so rarely (the only two times its happened is with new Ladies) that I think it’s a bit of a stretch. Even if she did get a mantle, she’d need time to learn to use it, which I think at this point in the series we don’t have.
      3. About the swords; it’s said that anyone can use (expel) magic, such as when making love, but that not everyone has the raw power to gather & expel enough of it in a way that has much direct effect on the world around them. It’s why Butters was able to use magic with Bob acting as that “fuel” source, & why he needed his blood (very magically potent) in order to close a circle when someone like Harry can just close it with will. So about the swords, I don’t think it is very significant that the Knights can use the swords because the swords themselves are likely that fuel source (or as Harry said numerous times, simply multiplying their faith magic a thousandfold which I’ll address in a theory about faith magic here). It may be possible that you have to have power before you can take it up, as opposed to simply channeling it from elsewhere, because each of the people who took up the Faerie Mantles were either changelings or wizards who were specifically prepared to take up such a mantle. Even with the Darkhollow they were all wizards & they all prepared themselves extensively.

I’d certainly like to find out more :)
Potential energy or energy at his disposal automatically? Sure if he took up the Darkhollow or a Coin then definitely, but he was almost out of gas after freezing the lakebottom, & he completely exhausted himself burning down the Vampire Ball in Grave Peril, which resulted in only one section of the manor being burnt to a crisp until he got the Ghosts to burn the rest. I don’t think he could take down a whole city.

    • It's just an idea, something I failed to make clear, born from my dislike of the alternative - Murphy on her way out. And I am not even sure we can tip the balance one way or the other (there is not enough info to decide which way things will be going).

Got to thank you to point out that perhaps the swords are not that tipping point I may have made them to be; so perhaps there will be no crutches for Murphy, and still she goes out.

Jeez, this is even a bigger cliffhanger that I realized; it might be that Peace Talks and Mirror Mirror are way more difficult to write than the series has been thus far.

Also Dresden able to pull a death curse without dying, is just an idea, linked to him losing all restraints out of Murphy's death, real or perceived. Magic, pain, hurt, sanity are all going to explode in something apocaliptic that will leave little or nothing unscathed, Dresden included, though there may be enough left for him to be still alive, just barely; his mind twisted, his life almost over, his abilities grandly reduced.

  • seems to require much effort and frustration to be fixed. Meh! Good luck!

    ---

I think that sooner or later I'll have to get rid of tables in favor to something easier to maintain; if big enough, they're unwieldy, complex, hard to check against canon, and often with no clear purpose. Harry Dresden's list of spells seems to be the product of a sick mind with only nitpicking in its sight.

    • "Peeps" indeed.

The problem of many, if not most, wikis is that if there's no one to devise and enforce limits and to take care of consistency, you get a huge variety of problems: poor languages, misplaced emphasis, over-the-top details that have to be chopped and shaped into place. The magic page is LONG overdue for such a rewriting, and the 'mancies are one thing that will have to go. Should they be needed again, we can always retrieve them in one of the page's old versions

  • Say, Ursuul, how does one get alerted on new posts in discussions? I asked the titular question but nobody answered, so I guess nobody got notified...

EDIT: I've decided to merge the two pages anyway.
