Last Call is a short story in The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. It is set between Small Favor and Turn Coat.[1] It was originally published in Strange Brew, and later included in the anthology Side Jobs.

Plot[]

Harry Dresden walks into McAnally's Pub and smells something burning. All of the other patrons are unconscious, except for McAnally. Mac informs Dresden that his customers went crazy, attacking one another and destroying the bar before passing out and requests him to call Murphy. She gets emergency services to the bar to take care of the patrons, and Dresden gets Molly to work on the beer, which has been magically tampered with.

The information provided prompts them to track down Caine as a suspect for tainting Mac's beer. When Dresden and Murphy show up at Caine's apartment, Caine attempts to run, failing miserably. Threatened to be killed with magic, Caine informs him that he just provided whoever messed with the beer with bloodstone bought from Burt Decker.

At Left Hand Goods, they find out who bought the stone. Discovering that the beer had been sold to a catering company and was going to be sold at a Chicago Bulls[Footnote 1] game at the United Center,[Footnote 2] they attempt to stop the beer from being sold.

Dresden catches up with the woman, who turns out to be a maenad, only to be attacked by her and the intoxicated Murphy; he's arrested for assault, but is soon released from prison, having helped the police with the tainted beer.
