Archangel[Footnote 1] is a city in Russia.[Footnote 2]

Description[]

Archangel was the home of a senior White Council member, Simon Pietrovich. Described as both a compound and a tower, it was heavily fortified, and when attacked during the events preceding Summer Knight, showed evidence that the attackers had been let past the defenses by person or persons unknown.[1]

In the series[]

Summer Knight[]

In Summer Knight, some members of the White Council are planning to accuse Harry Dresden for starting the War and are using the tragedy at Archangel to stoke members fears to get rid of Dresden once and for all.[1]

Morgan says that someone he dearly loved died at Archangel and in his rage he blames Dresden and refuses to send support.[2]

Death Masks[]

In Death Masks, Susan Rodriguez tells Harry Dresden that Paolo Ortega planned and executed the attack on Archangel.[3]

Blood Rites[]

In Blood Rites, Jared Kincaid taunts Ebenezar McCoy about calling a satellite hit on Casaverde (Ortega's stronghold) in retaliation for Archangel.[4] Later, Eben explains the attack to Harry Dresden, saying they killed his friend, Simon, at Archangel.

Dead Beat[]

In Dead Beat, Bob informs Harry Dresden that Heinrich Kemmler's power was so great that, in 1961, it took the entire White Council: the Merlin the Senior Council, the Wardens, and the "brute squad" out of Archangel, plus every wizard and ally that they could find in order to destroy him. They had killed him several times. After the time the White Council killed him in the early nineteenth century, they chose not to take any chances.[5]

Changes[]

In Changes, Ebenezar McCoy brought the Grey Council to Chichén Itzá, smote his staff down and shouted, "Remember Archangel!" just prior to battle with the Red Court.[6]
